City PTSA Board
Angela has been a regular volunteer throughout GRPS but specifically with City and Zoo Schools since 2014. She served on the board as VP in 2018-2019. Last year, Angela was asked to assume the duties of president and was subsequently elected to the position. She begins her elected term this fall. Angela is the proud parent of one City graduate (2020), as well as three City students in the classes of 2021 & 2024. She almost always has a coffee cup in hand, hates eggs, speaks sarcasm as a second language, and is passionate about being an advocate and community builder.
Carol and her family moved to Grand Rapids from the U.P. in 2016, partly drawn to Grand Rapids because of City! She has been involved with organizing RAM, fundraising for band, serving on the band booster advisory board, and assisting with other events throughout the years. She took over the PTSA Treasurer position mid-year last year and recently agreed to an additional 2 year term. She has a daughter in 11th grade and a son in 3rd grade at North Park Montessori. In her spare time, Carol is the bookkeeper and manager of her husband’s art business. She loves to grow things in the garden, but is not a fan of harvesting. She has lived in 6 different states and hopes to add to that in the future. She loves summer, hates being cold, is happiest when she’s traveling, and thinks tractors are really, really cool.
Paula has been a part of school parent groups since her son started school, and he’s now a senior (who is really missing band). She’s run a few Santa Shops, many sub sandwich sales, assembled 6th grade yearbooks, cleaned the chicken coop, thrown some band banquets, been a Parent Action Leader (PAL) at City for three years, and worked on PTSA Membership for two years. This is her third year on the board as PTSA Secretary recording votes, meeting minutes, and weekly announcements. Paula is also on the Recycled Art Market committee. If you’d like to learn more about any of these roles she would be happy to talk with you. In each one, she learned so much and met new people. Paula loves working with fellow City parents to make good things happen! She also love cats (Crash’s Landing shelter) and every kind of dancing.
Gaelle joins the board this fall as one of our three vice presidents. She has volunteered in a variety of capacities at City and served as a PAL for the last two years. A native of France, Gaelle is an ardent supporter of GRPS athletics, enjoys playing soccer, and assists with Spanish interpretation/translation. She has one City graduate (Class of 2019) and two City students in the classes of 2022 and 2024.
Ardina joins the board this fall as one of our three vice presidents. In addition to the PTSA, she volunteers with middle school athletics at City. She enjoys calligraphy and spending time with her family. She has one City student in the class of 2025.
Beth is serving her third term as Vice President on the PTSA board. She and her husband began volunteering on the PTSA board of Coit Creative Arts academy and as youth leaders at their church. Beth has enjoyed chairing the very awesome, annual City Chili Cook-off for the last two years and working on the membership committee for the last year. She has four amazing children ranging from 11-25 years old, one being a 10th grader at City High. Most days you can find Beth running the family restaurant, Marco New American Bistro, as general manager, which she loves. Beth enjoys all things 80’s (especially the music), time with family and friends, and loving on people. It’s what we’re here for!
