Our last PTSA meeting of the school year is happening on Wednesday, May 19. At the conclusion of this meeting, our new PTSA board members will begin their terms and we will get busy on our summer to-do list. Before that happens, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the current board members who have dedicated so many hours to our City Community!
PAULA FOLEY, Secretary has been involved with the City PTSA since her Class of 2021 son was a student at Blandford. She has volunteered as a PAL (3 years); been on the PTSA Membership Committee (2 years) and served as Chair (1 year); has been Chair/Co-Chair of the Recycled Arts Market (4 years); and an active member of the City Band Boosters (4 years). You may recognize her by her warm smile or by the blue wagon that travels behind her at PTSA functions and Game Day! (™) Paula has put in countless hours and hundreds of miles on her vehicle (her car – and probably the blue wagon, too) shopping for snacks, water balloon launchers and teachers’ supplies. She brought her Southern hospitality to the PTSA and provided a listening space and support for many parents, teachers and students (and kept the board calm in stressful event times).
BETH BUSKARD, Vice President2 served a 3 year term as a City PTSA Board Member, but is no stranger to volunteering (Board Member at Coit Creative Arts Academy and volunteer at Zoo School). She has chaired the Membership Committee (2 years) and the Chili Cook Off (2 years) and still found time to chaperone a class trip to Chicago, stay in touch with new parents at Zoo School and be a support for City’s musical theater (procurer of the most legendary light up wands – ever – for the Cinderella production). Beth’s experience and kindness forged together and made her a true advocate for our students at City. She carries compassion with her and is dedicated to building community. Beth’s time is up on the board, but not at City! She is looking forward to one more year of chaperoning and focusing time on her family’s restaurant (shout out: Marco’s New American Bistro) next year before jumping back into all things senior related with her son’s Class of 2023.
CAROL CARR, Treasurer mercifully stepped in on a transition year as an appointee (I had to beg) and kept on working as an official PTSA Executive Board electee through this surreal past year. Before – and during – her time on the board, Carol has acted as Finance Chair for the Band Boosters (3 years) and Co Chair for the Recycled Arts Market (2 years). This lady shows up. For a lot. Carol’s organization, love of coffee and willingness to wear so many hats has gotten things done around City and we are better off as a result of her service. Carol was a grounding presence on the board. Plus, she’s quite witty. Carol is returning once again as Finance Chair for the Band Boosters next year. You’ll see her at Game Day! (™) until her daughter graduates in 2022.
You can meet our newly elected Board Members next week. Come to the meeting to say goodbye or hello while we wrap up business for the school year.
SANP meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 17 at 7pm. If you have a Senior (or Junior), join in for some final stages of planning. 2021 Grad participation fees and donations will be accepted on our website beginning next week. Watch our FB page or the City PTSA website for a meeting link to be shared prior to Monday.
If you have any questions for the PTSA or the CHMS Admin, you can submit them prior to the PTSA meeting next week and tune in for the answers. We will release minutes and video of that meeting if you cannot attend.
Thanks for all your support this year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or feedback.
City PTSA President
